Dr. Thomas Moran
VP, Head of Nature & Biodiversity Products
As the head of Nature and Biodiversity Products at GIST Impact, Thomas combines his passion for environmental solutions with over a decade of experience delivering transformational data products at technology startups and a deep understanding of scientific fundamentals.
Like many in the sustainability sector, Thomas has long anticipated the current spotlight on corporate responsibilities toward nature and biodiversity, and his team’s focus is on empowering corporations and financial institutions to convert this attention into action. He specialises in integrating data from diverse sources to create efficient solutions for regulatory and compliance challenges, with an emphasis on high-credibility AI insights and automation.
Thomas previously founded a startup that provided automated analytics for nature-based solutions, led product and data science functions at fintech startups, and was a member of the scientific research staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory with a focus on remote sensing. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and he is a military veteran.
